Issue:
Constant USB connect and disconnect sounds.
As
noted in episode 3 of the ZNN podcast our HP
m9040nPC suddenly began sounding the device connect
and disconnect alarms approximately every 10 to 15
seconds. We disconnected all devices and inspected
the machine for a lose board connection and
restored the machine to several known good
backups.
Solution: Remembering we had disconnected our Zune 80 running 3.0 firmware without first closing the Zune software the night before the problem was noted, we connected the Zune which launched the Zune software, re-synched and the warning sounds stopped. Worth a a try if this happens to you.
Issue: Dust under Zune 80 screens. Our Zune 80 is accumulating dust under the screen to the right of the hold switch and we have noted that others have experienced the same problem with Zune 80 devices and reported the problem in the official Zune forum.
Solution: As of yet one user has reported success using puffs of compressed air aimed at the Zune screen but we and most others are trying to cope with this issue. To our knowledge the Zune staff has not commented on the source or fix for the problem. Unresolved and in need of Zune team reply.
Issue: Unable to use WiFi connected Zune to download subscribed Zune Pass songs. When initially setting up your Zune Market Place pass you notice you are unable to download songs while connected wirelessly. You may be restricted to a 30 second sample or purchase only.
Solution: This issue has been addressed in the official Zune forum and is usually solved by (1) opening the Zune software with the Zune attached and (2) clicking device in the upper left corner and then settings in the upper right corner (3) in the left column chose Linking (4) and if "Link my Zune to a Zune Tag" and "Enable Zune Marketplace content purchase from device" are checked (5) uncheck, click the Remove Link button and then click OK in the bottom right corner (6) close the Zune software (7) disconnect and turn off your Zune (8) connect your Zune to the PC and either manually start the Zune software or wait for the Zune to activate it (9) repeat steps 2 and 3 (10) now click Link my Zune and check Enable Zune Market place content purchase and (11) click the OK button (12) shut down the Zune software and your Zune (13) restart your Zune and use your WiFi to connect to the Marketplace (14) When you see a song you want, add it to your Cart and when ready to download visit your Cart and choose the Down Load option.
Basically, you may have to toggle this option on and off to activate the WiFi synch with the Zune Marketplace and use your Zune Pass. This all assumes of course that you are using a Zune Pass.
